Recently, I thought about a lot of things and made a couple of decisions. One of those decisions was moving to #Mastodon as @strangeseawolf@mindly.social. Another one was giving my passion project, the story of the Herald Petrel, an independent place in the World Wide Web. I also set it up so it got its own instance in the #fediverse which you can follow if you search for @admin@fly.herald-petrel.com
For the story itself, I decided to stay on #AO3 because I already have a few readers there and also, it is where I started this story off, and so, it deserves to be finished there. Also, I still support the idea of the Archive of Our Own.
So, for now everything stays like it is, only that I will use the blog to announce new chapters and play around a bit.
By the way *harrumph* here is the 50th chapter:

So it is also kind of a birthday? Yes, I think it is.
So, where does this go?
Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe I will move the whole story here. Maybe I will just publish it once it is done as a book because I like the feeling of a physical book. Perhaps I will do nothing at all with it.
For now? It just is what it is.
Follow me (and Captain Galahad, Raffi, Siff, Handy, Wy, and all the others) if you like to find out.
@admin Yes, I am unreasonably proud I managed to set up a website for my #writing and that this is the first post automatically sent to #Mastodon Yes, I am a playchild.Thank you @feditips for pointing me to the #wordpress plug-in by @pfefferle which made this possible. You are awesome! :11111:
@admin @AncaAntoci I've never stumbled about #ao3 before. Is it a platform for aspiring writers to share their creation with the world?
It is a platform that was originally created to give writers of #fanfic a save space to post their works without it becoming ownership of the platform they post on or be persecuted by big brands who try to claim transformative works are not legal. As #fanfiction often explores aspects that are for a variety of reasons not shown on screen (for example but not limited to: no real, healthy LGBTIAQ+ relationships shown on screen) it became a place where this freedom of expression is possible and also protected, since #AO3 offers also legal assistance when sued (https://archiveofourown.org/about).
But it also offers a space for original works, which often happens when writers who started with fanfic want to explore this side of writing, often having created a readership through their fanfics and a network with other writers, so it is off to a better start in terms of engagement. That’s what I did, especially since I love posting chapter by chapter and interacting with readers.
